Do What U Luv works with the local school communities to help them connect with outside resources, and provide more affordable and accessible programs relating to Arts, Hip-Hop/Urban Dance and Martial Arts/Self-Defense and Music, during the after school “vulnerable” hours (3:00pm-6:00pm) directly in school, open to youths of all ages and background, and free admission for “at-risk” youth and those who face barriers in accessing these type of opportunities.
Our main source of funding comes from business and corporate sponsorships, general donations, and community crowd-funding activities. We also strive to collaborate and support the work and mission of other non-profit organization and charities in the following areas:
Creative Education, Experiential Learning
Youth Empowerment, Social-Emotional Learning
Environment, nature and sustainability
We started our first collaboration and programs with the School Board of Surrey (SD36) and Tri-City (SD43) in 2014, providing a series of Hip-Hop Dance, Martial-Art and yoga programs for 4 school communities, for a total of 80 students from ages 5-13. In the 2014/2015 school year, we will continue our collaborations with the Surrey, Tri-city and Burnaby School Districts. Our goal is to provide programs for a total of 15 school communities, reaching out to both Elementary and Secondary Schools from K-12.
Since then, we have delivered a total of 80 school programs in 30 schools, across 2 school districts, impacting the lives of more than 1,000 youths and families (Dec. 2016).
